- courier who was jailed in Nicaragua after his plane was shot
- down in 1986; by a federal jury; in Miami. Hasenfus and his
- wife had sought to recover back pay and legal expenses from
- Southern Air Transport of Miami and Richard Secord, the retired
- Air Force general who helped supply the contras. The jury ruled
- that Hasenfus was well aware of the risks he faced.
